Sunday Afternoon shows
Not only was it a lovely packed gig at Bedale on sunday but the huge advantage of it being a late afternoon show got the thumbs up from everyone I spoke to. People travelled from further away because they could easily get home early evening. I was having a quiet coffee in the lovely little Belgian style restaurant around the corner beforehand when folks coming to the gig dropped in for lunch . It made for a very relaxed and enjoyable afternoon and Jon and I still got to go out with mates for an evening meal afterwards. It was a brilliant and civilised day and actually a model for other people to seriously consider .
Thanks Paul and Wendy and the team.
Sunjay Brayne was on before me and was excellent. Check him out.
Re-Issue of the Album ‘By Gloucester Docks’.
Probably one of the best albums I was ever involved in is the Ashley Hutchings solo project ‘By Gloucester docks’ which has just been re-released by Talking Elephant.
If you do nothing more this festive season, please check it out. Its an old fashioned concept album that tells a story and contains some of Ashleys finest writing.
The dream team band were, myself, Christine Collister, Polly Bolton, Dave Mattacks, Graeme Taylor, Steve Ashley and many others and it was recorded at Millstream studios in Cheltenham in 1986.
Robin Denselow has just given it the thumbs up!!
Happy new year.
